Hello Castilleja Family, My Maternal Abuelita's name was Andrea Castilleja. Here is the information I have on my Abuelita Andrea.

The Castilleja Family as far back as I could get information was from: Abuelita Andrea’s Paternal Grandfather Cresencio Castilleja and Grandmother Eutemia Zapata de Castilleja. Parents of Norberto Castilleja who was the father to Abuelita Andrea Castilleja.
Abuelita Andrea’s maternal Grandmother was Paula Sanchez. Grandfather’s name was unknown. Paula gave birth to Carlota Sanchez who was Abuelita Andrea’s mother.

Norberto Castilleja married Carlota Sanchez de Castilleja who then had Abuelita Andrea Castilleja.

Abuelita Andrea’s siblings as far as the information that was given to me: Magdelena Castilleja, Juan Castilleja, Ceferino Castilleja, Elena Castilleja, Guadalupe Castilleja (Tia Lupe), Carmen Castilleja, Patricia Castilleja (whom married into the name Rodriguez had a son Tonio Rodriguez), Martin Castilleja and Ignacio Castilleja (Tio Nacho).

If there is anyone out there that recognizes Cresencio and Eutemia Castilleja, I would love to get more family history. If anyone recognizes any flaws in my information. Please send me corrections. I would appreciate all information.

Has anyone heard the status of our reunion? The 25th reunion was great and I was hoping to be able to see some results of attendance, member satisfaction and cost. The New Braunfels family did a great job and it would be nice to see the results of the great work. I know several people stepped up and voluntered to help with the next one. I have not heard anything about a planning meeting and I know time is getting short. Please post any updates. Wishing all of you a very Merry and Blessed Christmas.

David Castilleja here. I know with the hot weather, many are not thinking about golfing, but I am sure the weather will cooperate and get better my reunion weekend. Please give us a call to add your name to the list and invite your family and friends. We will have a good time and provide lunch after golfing. Call either Sam or I and join us for a good outing to kick off the reunion weekend. Landa Park is a good challenging course and in the center of New Braunfels.

First, Happy 25th Anniversary Castilleja Family Reunion (CFR). On September 5-6 of 2009, we will celebrate our silver anniversary in New Braunfels, Texas. It has been a long road, and we come home to where it all started. Bring your golf clubs, swimming suits, and family to this beautiful city in Central Texas. Make your reservations early because the city will be full of people and weekend activity. The place will be the New Convention Center in New Braunfels.

The descendants of Ignacio Castilleja invite you to come and celebrate with us the anniversary of the 25th annual Castilleja Reunion. Our celebration will be held in New Braunfels, Texas on September 6, 2009 where the reunions were started so many years ago. The reunion will be held at the New Braunfels Civic Center from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.. There will be a Catholic Mass, pot-luck lunch, recognition of our military veterans, activities for all ages, raffle, silent auction, and dance. Please bring photos of ancestors and any photos of previous reunions to display and items for raffle and silent auction. We hope to see you there!

Los Colores -- In order to identify families , we recommend the following color of clothing to be worn during the event. Remember this is our anniversary let us make the 25th anniversary as colorful as ever.

The Cost for CFR

Registration will be $5.00 / adult

Family or couple (2 people) $10.00

Family of 4 adults $15.00

Family of 5 or more $20.00 *No married couples are included in this family fee.

Scholarships Awards

College Scholarships will be awarded to students who qualify under the following criteria.

Applicant’s father and/or mother must be decendants of Pablo and Marcelina Castilleja and their known decendants, Gregoria and Herculano Castilleja (adopted and step children are eligible)
Applicants must attend an accredited post-secondary educational institution. Submit documents showing that you are enrolled and have successfully completed one semester with a GPA of 2.5 or above –submit transcript. Those enrolling show transcript with High School GPA.
Applicants must write a brief essay on “What the Castilleja Family Reunion Means to Me.”
Explain in your essay how you are related to a Castilleja . Essay must be legible.

Applicants must be present at Reunion to receive the scholarship.
Previous winners must wait one year before re-applying.
Deadline for applications is August 15, 2009.

Photographs

Bring your photos of past family and label them properly with your name and place a brief description of event and time period. Any pictures of family serving in the armed forces of the USA are welcome. We hope to have a separate room for Family Photos.

Gifts for Raffle and Silent Auction

We ask that each family attending the reunion bring a gift for the raffle and one for the silent auction. Label these gifts with your name and city so that we can recognize the family members. Remember this is another way the Castilleja Family raises funds for scholarships and the Reunion.

Plan it now!.... Garage Sales are great fundraisers

Raise Funds for Trip - $$$$$

BBQ, tamale sale, garage sales, and car washes are a number of ways families raise $$ for the family reunion. Start now and help the family pay for hotel and gas or donate to the CFR.

Golf Okay this is the way it works. We will need at least 44 players in order to have our annual CFR Golf Tournament. You must send to Demecio Castilleja (address below) $50.00 in order to pay for the tournament, a lunch, and trophies. The funds must be paid by August 15. The tournament will be held at 8 a.m. on Saturday, September 5 at Landa Park in New Braunfels with a shoot-gun start and best ball format.

You must let me know your handicap A= Scratch player, B= 10-18 Handicap, C= 18-25 Handicap, D = play seldom or never played. Include with your funds, your name, address, and phone number. All funds will be returned if we do not get enough players.

Election of Officers for CFR

All positions are up for election during the 25th family reunion. The positions are President, Vice President, and Financial Secretary for the CFR. The officers have made it known that they wish to retire or take a rest from the positions. If you are interested in running for any position please attend a special meeting that will be called during the Castilleja Family Reunion in New Braunfels. Please be sure you are committed to these positions.

Hello Castilleja Family,

Here in California, we have started our little projects so we can contribute to the Reunion. Several jewlery items have been sent to me by my sisters Cruz & Josie and baby blankets. I never new that I could actually crochet baby hats and a baby blankets. I did this while on the train,to and from work. I actually got an offer for the blanket, but I wanted it for the reunion. I now need to put together an embodiered squares blanket as well. So you see, we can all participate one way or another. Have a garage sale and donate the money for a scholarship. SELL burritos. Let me know what other projects you are doing. And don"t forget to send all those good-looking military pictures in as requested.

For the last few years it has been an honor to say thank you to those who have served/are serving in the military at our family reunions. There are many who have served that do not have a picture in the family memorilbilia area. If you have served, know somone who has served I would love to have their picture to be included.
Please send a copy of a picture, the name of who is/has served, what branch, and when they served. I will place the picture and information on a scrapbook page and they will be placed on the military memoriblila tables.
